Welcome Back Renee!

I'm back! Where have I been, well kind of all over the place. So much has changed since 2015. So much life has been lived and so many people have come and gone I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it. I live in Forest Hills, New York, and Delray Beach, Florida. I have a new life partner, I'm retired but work as a substitute teacher, I no longer have a house filled with critters, I no longer have a house.

I pray a lot these days, for all of us, my family, friends, my community. Life is a puzzle built on the decisions we make. Some decisions work out better than others. It helps to know that G-d is always watching and following us on our journey. He might not keep us from stumbling, but he is always there for us to help us pick up the pieces and continue on.

I am finally getting to fulfill a life dream of traveling to Greenland. I have always been motivated to go there, ever since I was 5 years old and I flew over the ice sheet. I was totally awe-struck at the magnificence of the experience. Now I am off to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland for an Artic Adventure. Iceland too. We are headed to the Blue Lagoon and on a day trip around the easter side of the island. Nina and Anne-Grete are coming with me. Pictures are to be posted later.

Did I Mention My Travel Trailer?

Last January Woody and I bought a travel trailer. A Wildwood X-lite, 16 foot, and wonderful. It tows really easily and is perfect for me and the dogs. The problem comes when someone comes with me. Woody thinks it's too small to stay in any longer than a few days. He tends to get pissy if he has to drive long distances. I can't be happier. This camper has made it possible to go off with my mother this past summer to a few pretty nice spots on Lake Lanier. Woody and I also went to West Point lake outside of LaGrange Ga. for a fabulous weekend trip. My last journey was to Lake Martin in Al. I spent three days with my dad at Wind Creek State Park. All in all, I love staying at a campground and spending time outside with my family and dogs.

My New Hobby - Mushroom picking.

I have always loved eating mushrooms. The aroma, texture and visual experience of eating a wild mushroom is wonderful. I remember, many years ago in Norway, I was visiting my Uncle Anton and we were staying up in the mountains. As a family we went mushroom picking for Chanterelles. They were small and tasty. I remember my grandmother cleaning and cooking them. It has always been my desire to relive this experience so after my recent trip to Vogel State Park, I decided to make it happen.

Chanterelle Mushrooms, N. Georgia

I took the plunge and fried up these delectable delights. I added a cream sauce and venison steaks for a really tasty dish.

I have been bitten by the mushroom bug! Next step, I joined the Mushroom Club of Georgia.

City Finals

Woody and I finally made it to City Finals!!!!!!  Not only did we make it in our division, but we won the whole shebang!

Fixin the Pool

We have finally bitten the bullet and are investing money in our swimming pool.  We've taken a year to save up and things are finally on their way.  After getting multiple bids, we finally found someone we feel had a good reputation plus a competitive price.

The first step was draining the pool, which worked out well as it was raining all night and the pool water just blended as regular rain run off.  Yesterday they came and took out the tile and replaced it with a very beautiful deep blue tile called "Blue Verona".   Of course the critters are very curious about what is going on and think they have a new place to play.

Tomorrow will starts grading the sides to prep for the Pebble Sheen.  More pictures to come.
