Since this Blog posts with the latest entries first and I want to post in segments, I'll have to start with the end and so that the beginning will be first. The end of my trip saw two days in London. Anne-Grete and I stayed in a great hotel located on Crestfield Street right across from Kings Cross Station and St. Pancreas International station. A better location for town people totally new to traveling around the big city of London. (A.G. had been before but that was a long time ago.) We spend the first day at Covent Garden and then spent too much time walking around looking for the Templar Temple, which we never found.
The second day we spent traversing London using the bus system and made our way to Harrods.
It truly lived up to our expectations whic included over priced, expensive and totally out of my league. So I bought a Harrod's make-up case, a couple of pens and Wimbleton gear for me and Woody. the visit would not have been complete without visiting the Diana Memorial in the Lower Level next to the souvenier shop. Much to my surprise the Memorial included the ring Dodi gave Diana, which was hugh!
Then it was on to Notting Hill for shopping and sight seeing. Fortunately for us the sights included Mick Jagger talking with a gentleman outside a doorway on Portabello Road. I managed to remain very cool and we kept walking without staring, which would have been totally uncool!
We found a nice English Pub and enjoyed a beer with fish and chips. The food was much better than expected as you can see from the picture. The next moring we left our hotel, (being conveniently located next to the train that takes you directly to Gatwick Airport) and started our trip back to the states and Woody's open arms, Next time I go anywhere I'm taking Woody with me!
