One of the big surprises this summer was the sudden need to make repairs to the house! We've ad drought from so long that when it did start raining all the flaws started to sow up. Our gutters were too rotten to handle the rain and needed to replaced and the roof was old and rotting away too. We also thought that while we were at it we might as well paint the hours too, and that lead to the change in color from dark brown to Mose green. As usual the color looked much different on the house then on the color swab, but I find I like it just as much.
On really big surprise was th extent of rot on the front window. We are now waiting for a replacement window as the one that is there now is damaged on the bottom. Here it is with the molding pulled off.
I kept the brown accent wood because I thought it would make the front entrance look three dimentional. I'm still not 100% sure it should stay that color.
These picutres were taken before the job was finished. I'm publish more photo's once the enire job is done. (And trash is cleaned up!)
Here is a better view of the roof. Woody wanted a light color so we went with a "Silver" which ended up looking white. It's hard to know who a roof will look from such a small single sample. Woody went out of town this week so I had to monitor all the work. I went up on the roof twice to inspect the chimney and carpentry work before the shingles were completed and then again once the job was done. Thank goodness for the Internet as I was able to find pictures of what I should be looking for in good roofing construction.
